Chapter 01
A House for Small Things
Useful things deserve places, and places shape behaviour.
Small Robots began with a simple question: what if software did not live behind anonymous windows and hidden processes, but in a house with rooms, habits and familiar faces?
Each room has a purpose. Each resident has work to do. Some jobs are practical. Others are simply acts of care.
Domestic logic
Technology becomes easier to understand when it has a home.
A ledger becomes a shelf. A monitor becomes a window. A background process becomes a resident with a route through the house.
The point is not to hide the engineering. It is to let the engineering gain a shape that can be remembered, visited and cared for.
